In the open penitentiary center in Givenich, various souvenirs made of Holz vun hei are produced for the Natur- & Geopark Mëllerdall region. These are part of the Jailbird brand, which was born out of a défi-job initiative.
These Jailbird souvenirs are made on behalf of the Natur- & Geopark Mëllerdall by inmates of the penitentiary center under the guidance of designers. This programme enables inmates to strengthen their self-image and learn new skills. This supports later reintegration into society and the labour market.
The souvenir series of the Natur- & Geopark Mëllerdall in cooperation with Jailbird was created as part of the LEADER project Holz vun hei. The fridge magnets, animal figures, drip rings and key rings are all unique and can be purchased at the regional tourist information offices.
